Terms of Service
Effective September 13, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ComplyCue's website, free tools, and compliance tracking application (together, the “Service”), operated by ComplyCue (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account, using the free License & Permit Checker, or otherwise accessing the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
ComplyCue helps businesses track licenses, permits, insurance, bonds, registrations, and other regulatory obligations. The Service includes: (a) a free, no-signup License & Permit Checker that surfaces likely requirements for a given business type and location; and (b) a paid compliance dashboard that stores your documents, extracts key fields via AI, tracks renewal deadlines, and sends reminders.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate business and contact information; obligations and reminders are only as useful as the data behind them.
- Organization owners are responsible for managing team member access and roles within their organization.
3. Subscription plans and billing
Paid plans (Solo, Business, Multi-Location, and Enterprise) are billed monthly in advance unless otherwise agreed in an Enterprise order form. Multi-Location plans include a set number of locations with additional locations billed at the posted per-location rate. All paid plans include an initial free trial period; you will not be charged until the trial ends unless you cancel first. You may cancel at any time from your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload documents you do not have the right to upload, or use the Service to store or process data unrelated to legitimate business compliance tracking.
- Attempt to access another organization's data, bypass row-level security or authentication controls, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities without authorization.
- Use automated means to scrape, extract, or republish our regulatory knowledge base or generated pages at scale without our written permission.
- Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law, including data protection, employment, or licensing law.
5. Your content and documents
You retain all rights to the documents and data you upload (“Customer Content”). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Customer Content solely to provide and improve the Service to you, including running AI extraction on documents you upload. We do not use your Customer Content to train third-party AI models without your consent.
6. Regulatory information and the free checker
ComplyCue maintains a regulatory knowledge base sourced from official federal, state, county, and city agency publications. Every requirement we surface — whether in the dashboard, the free License & Permit Checker, or our public license/permit reference pages — is labeled with a confidence level (confirmed, likely applicable, or needs verification) and links to its official source where available. Confidence labels indicate how directly a requirement was matched to your reported business type and location; they do not guarantee legal applicability, completeness, or currency. ComplyCue provides compliance tracking assistance and general information about regulatory requirements. It is not a substitute for legal, tax, or professional advice. Requirements marked "Needs Verification" or "Likely Applicable" have not been confirmed against an authoritative source and should be independently verified with the relevant agency before you rely on them.
7. AI-assisted document extraction
Our AI extraction feature reads uploaded documents to suggest field values (such as license numbers and dates) with a confidence score per field. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming extracted values before relying on them. ComplyCue is not liable for decisions made based on unconfirmed or low-confidence extracted data.
8. Reminders and notifications
The Service sends renewal reminder emails based on the reminder schedule and expiration dates you or our extraction pipeline have entered into the system. You are solely responsible for verifying expiration dates and renewal deadlines with the issuing agency; ComplyCue's reminders are a convenience tool and do not replace your own compliance obligations.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, regulatory knowledge base, and trademarks (including the ComplyCue name and logo), is owned by ComplyCue or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as intended.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every regulatory requirement applicable to your business will be identified.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ComplyCue and its officers, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on any regulatory information, reminder, or AI-extracted field. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or fail to pay applicable fees, after reasonable notice where practicable.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify account owners of material changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, unless otherwise specified in an Enterprise order form.
